Leonid Brezhnev awarded “Ugliest World Leader”
The Institute For Determining Physical Repulsion (IDPR) has awarded dead Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev its coveted Ugliest World Leader prize. Comprised of a small wooden plaque and a $10 Amazon gift card, the award has been given out each year since 2003. Past winners have included U.S. President Lyndon Johnson and Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.
Second place this year went to French President Charles de Gaulle, whose family was granted, in keeping with the lesser honor, a paper Certificate of Ugliness and a $5 Amazon gift card. Speaking French, the family of de Gaulle said “Thanks, we guess,” and rolled its eyes.
Brezhnev’s family could not be contacted for comment because they all died in the Gulag.
