Anonymous asked: Brother Michael, someone close to me has the same cardiac anomaly, corrected whenhe was 12 mos. Still going strong after 3 plus decades of emergencies, maintenance, pacemaker mishaps, etc. In the USA I would have been an outlaw to pay for it. Thank God we live in Canada. Single payer works. It's not perfect but when you really need it it works. Even the most conservative folk up here see it as a good investment and a right. Good health and good luck to you.
Well, I wish I knew who you were and thanks. Good to hear your friend is doing well. We sound about the same age, this friend of yours and I.
I am in favor of absolutely free, universal health care for everyone in this country. I don’t care if it’s called socialism or communism or what. The amazing medical advances that the human race has made should be enjoyed by all, like the damn air. It is not a product and we are not consumers. It’s a right.
This is life and it is good. What’s to debate or think about?
As for me, I am doing very well. No pacemaker. In fact, the arrythmias that plagued me in my youth dimished as I got older and now it’s been like 7 years since I’ve had to be rushed to the emergency room. I know that as I get older new issues are going to arise, so thank you Mr. President. Like I said, for that alone he gets my vote—and I am not an Obama pushover. There are a lot of things about him that piss me off—his continued warring, his goddamn drones, his support of jailing American citizens without trial should the government decide to call them terrorists. But Romney would do the same shit, and with a raging hard-on, too. My bitches with Obama are probably bitches I would have with any President too pussy to stand up for anything. But on health care, Obama stood up—the first American President in history to do so.
He’s got my vote for that.
Earlier I wrote about my political column, about how easy and fun it was to write about something I’m passionate about, but health care is different. I’m not just passionate about it, I’m taking it personal. I view the pigfuckers who want to take my health care away as people out to kill me and it makes me want to get my gun out of the closet. I’m not even kidding.
Can’t write about that. Shhh!
Take care, my anonymous friend.
